PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A piece of Panama City history is for sale.
The First Presbyterian Church of Panama City is selling what once was known as Panama Grammar. The brick building is at 101 East 7th Street in downtown Panama City. For nearly 55 years, the property has belonged to the First Presbyterian Church and was used as the Presbyterian Education Building.
The church says the Panama Grammar building was built in 1914 and served as a school for nearly 50 years, closing its doors in June 1965. The church bought it that month.
The church released a statement saying the building was damaged during Hurricane Michael, as was the buildings that housed the sanctuary and Sunday school rooms. The church also said that it will rebuilding those buildings, but are looking for a buyer who will preserve the history of the Panama Grammar building.
