FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is celebrating another class graduating from the Fresh Start program.

Friday, three men graduated from the program. They are Tobias Rhodes, Billy Dalton, and Richard Sands. The men completed 12 months at the Franklin County Detention Center and now head to the next step in the program, which is staying at a halfway house.

The program was started in Franklin County by Tim Terry in the prison. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office then decided to try a pilot program in the county jail. According to Sheriff AJ Smith, the Franklin County Detention Center is one of the only jails in Florida to have one of these programs.

This program leads to a bigger goal. Sheriff Smith has been working toward bringing a rehabilitation center to Franklin County. He says he hopes it will help people on the streets as well as people who are court ordered.
