To kickstart the initiative of combating the issue, Franklin County Sheriff AJ Smith is starting an awareness campaign.
He says he plans on raising awareness on the local resources available for those struggling with the drug and also plans on sharing success stories with people in the community who could be losing hope.
"I know people in the community that have been heavily addicted to meth and have overcome it and now they're productive parts of society and productive parts of our community and that's what I want to do, I want to highlight these people, I want other people that are on drugs to know that there is a way out, there is hope," Sheriff Smith said.
Sheriff Smith says he's hopeful talking about meth concerns can make a difference.
