In Franklin County, many are getting access to the FDA approved COVID-19 antibody test.

Wednesday at Weems Memorial Hospital and at another site in Carrabelle, the test was free to anyone.

But hospital officials tell us they're trying to target those in the service industry, retail, and law enforcement who have significant exposure.

Hospital CEO David Walker believes the more people who are tested, the sooner the economy can open up again.

"I think this means a lot to the community because testing, you know, is very important. Many times in rural areas we're geographically isolated, you know about an hour and a half on either side from Panama City and Tallahassee, and so access to care in rural communities is very, very limited. So this really, really, removes a barrier for our community," said Walker.

He also tells us they plan to have another antibody testing date in the near future.
