BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG) - Nearly 11 months after Hurricane Michael, the future of Tyndall Air Force base has been a key focus of our area's recovery.
Brig. Gen. Patrice Melancon, the executive director of the Tyndall Air Force Base Reconstruction Program, sat down with us to discuss that future.
Melançon says this has been an opportunity to rethink the base and turn it into a digitally-integrated 21st-century model for the future. Officials have been mixing in the latest in city planning when it comes to their master plan.
However, they can't do it alone. Air Force leadership is hosting an Industry Day this Thursday, September 12 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Florida State University Panama City. Officials will continue more specific discussions with industry leaders and the local community on construction methods, materials, and logistics.
