Governor's plane makes emergency landing

Office of Congressman Ron DeSantis

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CAPITOL NEWS SERVICE) - The plane carrying Governor Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, DeSantis Chief of Staff Sean Strum and three other staff members was forced to make an emergency landing in St. Petersburg Friday afternoon. All on board are fine.

The Governor and others were on their way to Broward County where they were expected to announce the suspension and replacement of Sheriff Scott Israel. They are now expected to arrive in Broward around 4:30 p.m.

The plane, a King Air belonging to the Department of Law enforcement, was seized some time ago from drug dealers. Governor DeSantis was forced to use the plane because former Governor Rick Scott sold the state air fleet and blocked lawmakers from buying a new plane last year.
