Growth to continue at Venture Crossings despite GKN Aerospace closure
After GKN Aerospace announced Tuesday it would be closing its doors in January, we wanted to know what that meant for the other developments in Venture Crossings.
Although GKN Aerospace won't be delivering it's promise of 200 jobs in five years, the President of the Bay Economic Development Alliance, Becca Hardin, says she wants people to know it was purely a corporate decision and had nothing to do with Hurricane Michael or a lack of skilled workers.
Hardin says GKN's decision has no impact on what they will be doing at Venture Crossings. She also says they will continue their goal of keeping those businesses aviation-related.
The Bay EDA works closely with the St. Joe Company, who owns the land Venture Crossings is on and says they will continue growth in that area.
"This is a blip on our radar screen. It won't have any impact on our very aggressive recruitment strategy in the aviation industry, so we have great assets at our airport, we have shovel-ready sites, and we actually have very active projects that are looking at all those sites," said Hardin.
We reached out to St. Joe Company but they declined to comment at this time.
