GULF COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Gulf County commissioners held another emergency meeting Thursday to talk about plans to handle COVID-19.

Gulf County extended its beach closure two weeks during an emergency meeting Thursday. (GULF COUNTY)

Commission Chairman Sandy Quinn said they passed a resolution reinforcing CDC, White House and state guidelines, and also extended their beach closure.

"We met again today (Thursday) to reexamine a 14-day [beach closure]. We pretty much tried to stay in line with what everyone else above us is doing, and we knew that Panama City [Beach] had closed their beaches for 14 days so we said, 'Hey we need to close our beaches also for 14 days,'" said Commission Chairman Sandy Quinn.

The beach closure will last through April 9 and be revisited at that time.

Commissioner Quinn went on to ask all visitors to please stay away from the county until this all blows over. He says he wants everyone to enjoy their beaches, restaurants and shops, but not now.
