Gulf Power making storm preparations
Many are keeping an eye on the tropical system developing in the Gulf.
"We're not expecting much more than heavy rain right now," said Gulf Power's Home Services Operations Manager, Petie Bailey.
Gulf Power officials say they are continuously monitoring the storm, and they're ready to respond safely and quickly to restore power.
"One of the first things we do is we have a joint lead, we call it our CEMC, our company emergency management center," said Bailey.
The lead brings together departments like logistics and power restoration. So when disaster strikes, Gulf Power is ready to bring the power.
"We start reporting on where the resources are located," Bailey said, "how long it's gonna take to get resources to the area if we need them, and so we're just basically coming up with our game plan to respond if we need to."
A response that can come quickly.
"We have resources that if we need to get them here today, we can get them here today," said Bailey.
