Officials tell us the company is starting up a drone program.

The drones will help power professionals assess and protect power lines.

This is one part of making sure storm hardening efforts are in place.

The cameras on the drone will take normal and infrared photos.

"That way they could spot any potential equipment failures and we can go and make the repairs before the outage occurs, and that's going to be the neat thing. So that'll help prevent outages and keep our reliability numbers high on that," said Gordon Paulus, a spokesperson for Gulf Power.

The program will start the week of February 24 from Panama City to Pensacola.
