Habitat for Humanity of Bay County completes first house since Hurricane Michael
Ten months after Hurricane Michael, Habitat for Humanity of Bay County has completed its first home in Panama City since the storm.
The house is about 1,500 square feet with three bedrooms and stands next to a nearly identical home that is almost complete. The houses represent a slow return to normal for Bay County residents.
The organization has significantly stepped up its activity since the storm and is now also repairing qualifying homes as well as building new ones.
A number of local businesses have rallied behind Habitat for Humanity to help restore the lives of affected residents, and the organization plans to build seven new homes in the next 12 months.
