The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County has issued a health advisory for Poquito Park of Shalimar.

The health advisory was issued because the standard level of enterococci has been exceeded. The DOH says enterococci is normally found in the intestinal tract of humans and animals and may cause human disease, infections, or rashes. Health officials say the presence of enteric bacteria is an indication of fecal pollution.

The department of health says this should be considered a potential health risk to the bathing public.
