WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - For certain counties that have a low population and a high number of tourists, the county can qualify for a penny of bed tax.

Walton County Commissioners approved the High Impact Tourist Development Tax. The tax will now go from four to five cents. (WJHG/WECP)

Now Walton County will collect the extra penny and raise the tourism tax from four to five cents.

Walton County Tourist Development Council officials say with the extra tourism dollars more infrastructure can be built, which will allow the county to better serve both the visitors and the locals.
