High speed chase in Bay County leads to car fire

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - According to the Bay County Sheriff's Office, there was a suspicious vehicle on Front Beach Road in Panama City Beach early Monday morning.

When officers approached the car, the driver took off. They say the car then had an issue with its tires, which caused it to crash on Highway 231 near Highway 390. The driver then got out of the car and ran but he was later caught.

The car did catch on fire but was shortly put out. There are no reported injuries. The Bay County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

Traffic in the area is still moving slow, so use caution.
