Holiday travel underway

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - 'Tis the season for airports and traveling.

Because of the influx of travelers, there are double the amount of flights coming through Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. Although Thursday and Friday are considered heavy travel days, Airport Executive Director Parker McClellan says things usually calm down as it gets closer to Christmas day. Still, tensions can fly high during holiday travel so McClellan urges you to prepare ahead of time an pack your patience.

McClellan says, "There's been a rash lately of the last minute, the runners, what we call runners... and runners don't always make it."

So McClellan suggests you arrive at least an hour and a half early and check your airlines prior to arrival.
