HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Holmes County Sheriff’s K-9 Highway assisted in two unrelated felony drug arrests earlier this week.
The first arrest was made after a deputy made a traffic stop on Highway 90 around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Deputies say they pulled over James Petty, 38, of Kingston, Alabama and discovered he had a suspended license. Deputies say Petty emptied his pockets and revealed a cigarette pack that had marijuana.
K-9 Highway then searched the vehicle and alerted to the presence narcotics according to deputies. Deputies say they then found a glass pipe containing a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Deputies arrested Petty and charged him with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana less than 20 grams.
The second arrest was made Tuesday shortly after 8 p.m. when deputies made a traffic stop on Highway 90.
Deputies say that K-9 Highway alerted to the presence of narcotics.
Deputies say they searched the vehicle and found a bag containing a straw full of crushed Lortab and a metal tube holding a small bag of methamphetamine where the passenger, Victoria Wakefield, 30, of Westville had been sitting.
Deputies arrested Wakefield and charged her with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Deputies say she is also charged with resisting arrest without violence after refusing to be placed in the patrol vehicle.
