OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A former Shalimar resident is facing charges for allegedly scamming an elderly couple, one of whom is terminally ill.
Okaloosa County Sheriff's Officials say the couple hired Elissa Pedersen, 45, to help them around the house.
They say between September 2018 and April 2019, Pedersen opened a credit card in the victim's name, made purchases using department store cards and the victims' bank card, and stole jewelry, including a wedding pendant inscribed with "I love you." They say the husband's wedding band is also missing.
Pedersen turned herself in Monday.
