SPRINGFIELD, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Hundreds are gathering in Springfield Saturday to celebrate the city's 85th birthday and the sixth Founders' Day celebration.

The community is still working to recover from Hurricane Michael.
Mayor Ralph Hammond says an event like this helps with recovery.
City officials also set up booths where people could view future plans for the city.
"Our people are here trying to get the word out and show what our future's gonna look like. But the biggest thing is getting all of the community together and just doing a little celebration," said Hammond.
The celebration went on until 4 p.m.
