Hundreds show up at Sandestin Resort for book signing and rally
Hundreds of people showed up in Sandestin Friday for a chance to meet the president's son.
It was no ordinary book signing at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort on Friday morning. This one brought out the secret service and hundreds of people, eager to get a signed copy of Donald Trump Jr.'s new book.
"I just wanted to read it and hear the firsthand account from behind the scenes of what it would be like as a president’s son to have to live through everything that they've had to live through,” said Miramar Beach resident Debra Cordell.
Trump Jr. posed for pictures along with Congressman Matt Gaetz, who represents the first district of Florida, and Kimberly Guilfoyle.
They say it's important to make stops in this part of the state.
"Northwest Florida is victory lane for Republicans and the key to win this state for Donald Trump will be huge turnout in the Florida Panhandle, that's why Donald Trump Jr., one of the main advocates for the America first agenda was here today,” said Gaetz.
Gaetz also talked about the recovery of Bay County after Hurricane Michael.
"The federal government needs to do a better job of making sure that the housing money that we have authorized and appropriated actually gets programmed at the local level so that people can get in the housing that's more sustainable,” Gaetz said.
Locals said they also just came to meet Trump Jr. in person.
"He's one of the people that talks just like us out here, it's everyday people and hearing what we need to hear, not just the, I'd say, whitewash we get from most of the politicians up north," said Miramar Beach resident Randal Hull.
Security was tight, with both local and federal law enforcement officials working.
There were no protestors at the event.
