The Junior League of Panama City made history Friday by appointing its first African American president.

Karen Parham has been a member of the volunteer organization for ten years.

She is a guidance counselor at Arnold High School and an Army veteran.

The Junior League was formally chartered in 1952 to promote volunteerism and help improve the community.
