Juvenile arrested after a report of shots fired
Jackson County Sheriff's deputies say they responded to a report of shots fired on Tuesday, June 16 at about 5:53 p.m.
When deputies were on the way to the intersection of Napier Trail and Hwy 90 West, they say they were told a group of suspects had followed or chased the victim to their home before they shot at him.
Deputies say they found a car that matched the description and did a felony traffic stop. There were five suspects in the car, one of whom was 14-years-old.
Deputies interviewed the victim and he told them he did not if the shots were fired at him but he did know the shots came form the car.
Deputies say the juveniles in the car told them one of the juveniles did shoot and then threw the gun out of the car window when he saw the deputies patrol car.
Two men from a local towing company told deputies they saw the suspect throw an item from the car and took deputies to the area.
Deputies say after searching the area they found a handgun.
During the investigation, deputies say they found out one of the females in the car agreed to meet with victim to talk but when the victim saw she brought other people he felt like he was being set up and drove away. The suspects then followed him where the shots were fired.
Deputies say four of the juveniles were released to their parents and one of the juveniles, age 17, was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm from a vehicle within 1000 feet of a person.
