Locals seeing storm debris washing ashore in Panama City Marina

Crews in Panama City have cleared hurricane debris for months and there's still more out there, especially in the local marinas.

Some locals are seeing it wash ashore and now they're wondering who's going to clean it up.

Locals say they've seen debris in the water in the Panama City Marina and in the St. Andrews Marina.

Locals say they see wood, construction material and other forms of the debris come on the shore from the bays.

They also say debris has sunk beneath the water where it piles up and they believe it could be harmful to visitors in the area.

"The debris is a problem because children are out there and you have young folks that are walking across the beach. You have people who want to see the beach and view the beach as it really is but you can't do that because the debris is there," said Panama City resident Derick Starks.

City officials say they plan to have contractors clear debris from the Panama City Marina after the 4th of July then they'll clean the St. Andrews Marina.
