Law enforcement on keeping social distance
Most of us have been practicing social distancing over the past two weeks and local law enforcement has been working to make sure everyone follows the guidelines.
Panama City Beach Police Chief Drew Whitman says when social distancing started, many were having trouble following the rules but now since bars are closed, restaurants are only open for take-out, and people are not allowed to be in groups larger than 10, they haven’t had much of a problem enforcing the guidelines.
“We’ve been trying to educate everybody," Chief Whitman said. "Trying to tell them if they have a group of 10 people they need to be separated by 6 feet if they’re around another group. Most of the people they’re aware of it they’ve been watching the news. Everybody’s been participating in keeping their social distancing.”
Chief Whitman wants to encourage everybody to keep up the good work and follow the guidelines to stay safe.
