PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - People in Panama City are having a tough time since Hurricane Michael. One local organization is performing a play to bring hope back into the community.
The St. Andrew Baptist Church hosted a play at its gymnasium Friday night. Actors in the play say they usually do the play at the Marina Civic Center but due to the damage from Hurricane Michael they had to use different venues.
They say the community is having a difficult time recovering from the storm so they hope the play will inspire them to keep pressing on.
"You still see downed trees and piles of debris and homes wrecked and buildings. People just need a lift right now and we're hoping this can give them a lift," said Dan Hilyard who's playing John the disciple in Hope Has A Name.
There will be another play held at J. R. Arnold High School Saturday evening and admission is free to the public.
