City and county officials are working to get more housing back in the area.

Officials in Panama City say they're hoping with the newly approved Bay County long-term recovery plan will allow them to use federal money to bring more affordable housing options.

“The federal dollars will be used for housing," said Bay County Commissioner Robert Carroll. "Whether it’s people trying to buy homes, get into homes, rebuild some of that section 8 housing and multi-family housing."

Locals say they’ve applied for FEMA trailers, tried staying with friends and much more to find ways to stay in the area. However, they say it’s pretty much filled.
