Local agencies say they are aware of a flyer circulating on social media about a boat party coming to Shell Island Saturday.

According to some locals, the flyer has been posted on several platforms such as Facebook and Snapchat. However, some say they aren't sure where it originated and if it's even taking place.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials say they too know of the potential party.

"We are aware there is going to be a larger event, and we will have patrols accordingly planned for that," FWC public information officer Rebekah Nelson said.

FWC officials say they will be prioritizing public safety, safe boating practices and BUIs.

Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford also released this statement:

"The Bay County Sheriff's Office will be working a joint operation this weekend with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the US Coast Guard, the Panama City Police Department, Bay County Emergency Services, and the Panama City Beach Police Department to ensure the safety of the waterways in Bay County due to anticipated increases in water traffic and special events."
