Local beach parking coming to Panama City Beach
Many locals will soon be in luck when it comes to finding a good parking spot at the beach.
Panama City Beach officials are working on reserving spots for residents at three different beach access points; Richard Jackson Boulevard, Churchwell Drive, and South Thomas Drive.
Twenty-five percent of the parking spots at these lots will be reserved for locals who buy a $30 permit online, then it's $1 an hour while you're parked at the beach.
"You know the locals have to endure a lot of things here with a tourist community. We also get a lot of benefits from it, we don't have property tax, so to be able to give back to residents, anything you can to make their lives a small amount easier is gonna do great wonders for our community," said Geoff McConnell, a Panama City Beach Council Member.
City officials tell us within the next couple of weeks locals will be able to sign up for the parking permits online.
