Local first responders help out ahead of Hurricane Dorian

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Florida's east coast may have been spared Hurricane Dorian's wrath, but that didn't stop them from being prepared and locals from being ready to jump in and help.

Firefighters with the South Walton Fire District traveled to the east coast of Florida just in case they were needed.

This after the governor had declared a state of emergency.

South Walton Fire Chief Administrator Ryan Crawford says it's important to lend a hand whenever there's a need.

"It's reciprocal, you know, in a community's time of need, we want to be able to provide them the same resources that when we're in need, they're giving us," said Ryan Crawford, Fire Chief Administrator, South Walton Fire District.

As Hurricane Dorian moves along the southeast coast of the united states, Crawford says his firemen and women are ready and prepared to help if those areas need it.
