Local fitness group collects donations for Irma victims

One local organization is combining its love of personal fitness with its love for charity and community.

Team Evolve and Evolve with JT are local fitness and nutrition groups in Bay County. They were challenged by the Bay County Sheriff's Office to gather as many supplies as they could in two days to bring to victims of Hurricane Irma in Collier County.

The items gathered included water, cleaning supplies, and baby products.

Team Evolve's effort to raise supplies was so successful that the team has its own challenge for Bay County.

"What I'd like to do is I'd like to issue an overall challenge to Bay County in general, specifically the health and fitness industry, but anyone in Bay County. I challenge them to put together and meet or exceed the donation that we've put together behind us to kick this off," James Thompson of Team Evolve said.

Around half of the Bay County Sheriff's Office are members of Team Evolve and go to them for personal training and nutrition.

Any and all donations are welcome and the last day for donations will be Tuesday, September 19 at 5 p.m. at the Bay County Sheriff's Office.
