Local health department receives small shipment of children's flu vaccines

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - After temporarily running out of children's flu vaccinations Wednesday, the Florida Department of Health in Bay County received 30 Thursday afternoon.

Employees have put in a request to get more early next week.

In the meantime, health officials advise parents to check with their pediatricians and see where to find flu shots. A link has been attached to this article.

Children should also wash their hands with warm soap and water for about 15 seconds and avoid touching their face to prevent getting the virus.

Experts also recommend parents clean common surfaces like light switches and door knobs with disinfectants that specifically mentions it kills the flu.
