PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Stephen Hunt is one of many Bay County residents to lose his home to Hurricane Michael.
On Wednesday, a normal lunch trip to Shane's Rib Shack turned into a surprise bigger than an extra side. (WJHG/WECP)
"We're trying to get back in our house, you know we're living in a condo," said Hunt.
He's living with the memories of the storm everyday.
"It is depressing, it does depress. And I can really feel for everybody else that has the same problem, I do because it just weighs on you the whole time," said Hunt.
But there's a restaurant he goes to regularly, a place to help him take a break from reality.
"At least once a week, usually twice a week, we're here at Shane's eating lunch," said Hunt.
On Wednesday, a normal lunch trip to Shane's Rib Shack turned into a surprise bigger than an extra side.
Hunt found out he's the nationwide winner of the restaurant's "Wait and Win" competition for $20,000.
"I'm just grinning all over, it's a fantastic feeling," said Hunt.
Hundreds of thousands of people are entered into the competition across nearly 70 Shane's restaurants.
"To have the grand prize winner out of our location is just huge, so it's really exciting," said the Owner of the Shane's Rib Shack in Panama City Beach, Chris Gerkin.
Now Hunt says he's got a tough decision to figure out how he's going to spend the money.
"I don't even know! My wife probably already has it spent, she's known for several days about the prize and now I'm just sitting here. She's probably thinking what can we do with the house, and I'm thinking - new truck," exclaimed Hunt.
But there's one place where he knows he'll spend some money.
"I eat here anyway, but now, my favorite restaurant of all time," said Hunt.
