Two patriotic students were recognized by the VFW Wednesday afternoon.

Reagan Miller and John McLoughlin go to Holy Nativity Episcopal School. They both entered into an essay contest put on by the VFW.

The theme of this year's essay was "what makes America great".

Both Reagan and John said they wrote about the military, among other things.

Ken Waringa with the VFW said, "We always have a theme every year, a patriotic them it changes each year, and we had 30 something entries at our post and they came out first and second at our post, so it's a pretty good honor for them."
