Local woman celebrates 105th birthday
Panama City Beach local Brooke Nuoffer was born on July 6th, 1914, making Saturday her 105th birthday.
"I can't believe it. It seems like.....105 it's just astounding, and the fact that she's still with it and enjoys life and she has such a positive attitude," said her daughter Dorothy Burton.
Ms. Brooke's family and friends came together at her home in Superior Residences to celebrate her big day and reminisce about the amazing woman she is.
"I think the most important thing is having a positive attitude, Mother just never...if there was negativity she just...she wasn't for that. She would always find the good things about it," said Dorothy.
For some, that meant carrying on traditions.
"I have danced with her on her 100th birthday and I got to dance with her again on her 105th birthday," said family friend Vincent Murphy.
A local band formed by Arnold High School students, known as the Sandspurs, played music from her younger years, while loved ones gathered on the dance floor.
"It was great to have the band," said birthday girl Ms. Brooke Nuoffer.
Family members had their own ideas for the secret to making it to 105.
"It's having the people around you that you love, and it's celebrating moments like this as a family, and just taking a cue from her that everything is fun, everything's an adventure, everyday is something new to look forward to," said her granddaughter Amy Burton.
Ms. Brooke told everyone her key to living a long life.
"The secret is...don't die," she said while her family laughed beside her.
Honoring 105 years of love and happiness.
