Locals win 1st place in film competition

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG) - A group out of Okaloosa County took 1st place in a recent film competition beating out films from across the globe. Some of them joined us in the studio with more on their win.

"The Verso Verdict," a film produced for the 100 Hour Film Race, was awarded 'Best Film' out of 75 entrants from around the world. The awards show took place at The Strand Theater in Marietta, GA on March 14. Several cast and crew members gathered in Georgia to claim the accolade which was announced at the awards show.

In this competition, professional and amateur filmmakers worldwide are given 100 hours to write, film, edit and submit a short movie. At the start of the competition, filmmakers are given a theme, an action, and a prop that must be incorporated in the film. The team chose "Sci-fi Thriller" for their genre.
