A special guest spoke at the Bay Economic Development Alliance luncheon Tuesday as they looked back at the last year.
Senior Advisor of the Roosevelt Group and retired Air Force veteran Kathleen Ferguson spoke about Tyndall Air Force Base and its recovery efforts throughout the past year.
She said it was important that the base was chosen to be the "base of the future" as bases aren't often upgraded. She also said Tyndall will be the future home of three F-35 squadrons and an MQ-9 squadron.
Ferguson also spoke of the significance of Tyndall being rebuilt when other bases badly damaged by storms have not had the same opportunity.
"I think one of the things that helped keep Tyndall open is the great access to air spaces and ranges that are right off the coast of Florida, and also the great community support that Tyndall has here, and the work that the community has done with the Air Force over the years," said Ferguson.
Ferguson said in the next few months we'll start to see more construction at Tyndall.
