Thanks to a local family's donation, two Lynn Haven K9 officers will now have more protection in dangerous situations.
Lynn Haven police officials thanked local resident Jason Stark and his family for purchasing two new K9 vests for Marshall and Brother.
The vests are designed to protect against bullet and stab wounds. They are also valued at $950 each.
The Starks delivered the vests this past weekend.
"He brought them up with his family and Marshall, one of the female canines, was here to greet him and his family. And they were able to put the vest on the canine and got to see and interact with the canine," Lynn Haven Police Chief Ricky Ramie said. "So, it's just a positive thing where people in this community do wonderful things for us and we appreciate it very much."
The K9 officers won't wear the vests all the time because they might overheat in them.
The vests will be worn when the K9 officers go into potentially dangerous situations.
