Man accused of having drugs claims he was throwing them away

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Panama City man told police he had planned to throw away the drugs in his car and his lap when they woke him up, according to an arrest report.

Panama City police arrested Shane St. John, 24, Thursday.

Police say St. John was sleeping in his car in the parking lot of a convenience store on 11th Street.

Police say in plain view they could see drug paraphernalia. They say three white, rectangular pills were found in the center console and one small, green, circular pill was found in St. John’s lap. The pills were identified as alprazolam and oxycodone.

Police say St. John claims he was throwing the pills in the trash.

St. John is facing drug and paraphernalia charges.
