CRESTVIEW, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Crestview police say they responded to a shooting on Gordon Street at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 28.
Police say when they arrived on the scene there were multiple people
standing in the road.
Police say they were told a white Ford Expedition sped away from the area with the shooter inside.
According to police, the victim was a man with non-life threatening injuries was taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center to be treated.
The victim told officers he did not want to press charges against the shooter at told them it was an accident.
Police say they were able to quickly find the vehicle and pulled it over.
According to police, a passenger ran from the vehicle before it was stopped carrying an AK-47 style rifle.
Police say the man was later seen running a block from the traffic stop unarmed.
Police were able to arrest him and say they found the rifle after a K-9 search.
The driver was detained and police say about an hour later the owner of the car reported it stolen.
Police say after they took the call about the stolen vehicle, the owner called back saying he did not want to pursue charges.
Jeffrey Brown, 22, of Crestview was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a short barreled rifle, discharge of a firearm in public and resisting arrest without violence.
