A Fort Walton Beach man was arrested Tuesday morning after deputies say he armed himself with two handguns and fired shots into a bedroom where a family member was locked inside. The family member was not injured.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies say they responded to a townhome in the area of Fort Walton Beach early Tuesday morning in reference to shots fired.

Deputies say after knocking on the door they heard John Terry, 41, telling someone he was going to shoot whomever was at his door.

Neighbors were then evacuated for their safety.

Deputies say Terry refused to come out and deputies heard up to nine shots being fired.

One bullet went through the wall and into a neighbor’s garage.

Terry eventually surrendered without incident.

Deputies say they found a .45 caliber Glock in Terry’s front pocket, along with three loaded magazines.

Terry has been charged with using a firearm while intoxicated, discharging a firearm over a public roadway, and firing a deadly missile into a dwelling.
