As schools work toward getting back to normal, one man is spearheading an effort to deliver new flags to local schools.

A man named Richard Gibbens and his organization called "Flags for our Schools" are giving local schools brand new Florida and United States flags.

Tuesday morning, he dropped off flags at Waller Elementary in Youngstown.

Other stops this week include Southport Elementary, Lynn Haven Elementary, Haney Technical Center, and St. Andrews School.

He will also make a delivery to what is being called "Cedarfield," a hybrid name for Cedar Grove and Springfield elementary schools.

Waller Principal Gina McNally said it is an honor to receive new flags.

"I think it truly shows our citizenship, our patriotism, and what it means to be a public school and it's an honor and we're very grateful for his efforts and his kindness and his giving heart," she said.

Once Gibbens is done distributing to Bay District schools, he hopes to give flags to schools in surrounding counties.
