Man dies after hitting fence on military base

A Mary Esther man is dead after he crashed into the fence on a military base Wednesday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Richard Woodland, 41, was driving east on Highway 98 near the main gate at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base when he drifted into the westbound lanes.
He then hit the brick fence on the edge of the base and died. Investigators say alcohol was not a factor but it could have been due to a medical condition.
