Man dies in apparent drowning in the gulf

One man is dead after an apparent drowning in Panama City Beach on Friday.

According to police, a 31-year-old man was pulled out of the gulf by beach-goers in the area of 17643 Front Beach Road.

He was unresponsive.

Officers along with EMS and fire rescue provided medical attention at the scene and the man was taken to a local emergency room where he was later pronounced dead.

He has been identified as Darrius Stone, Jr. from Birmingham,
