Man killed in Mexico Beach officer-involved shooting identified

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - We now know the identity of the man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Mexico Beach Wednesday.

Bay County Sheriff's officials say John Darlington, 57, was shot when Mexico Beach police officers went to arrest him on multiple warrants out of Pasco County. He was also wanted on grand theft charges in Franklin County.

They say Darlington was armed when he confronted officers. The officer who shot him is on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
