OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A man who lit firecrackers and threw them under a sleeping child's bed calls it a "prank gone wrong."
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to call on Godfrey Street Saturday morning.
They say Matthew Morrison, 44, entered a home without permission and threw a string of firecrackers under a nine-year-old's bed who was sound asleep at the time. They say the homeowner told them Morrison lives in a tent outside.
Deputies also say the homeowner told them he chased Morrison out of his home with a stick.
They say the little girl told deputies she woke up to the sound of fireworks exploding in her room, causing her to be frightened, cry, and shake.
Deputies say when they detained Morrison, they found approximately two grams of methamphetamine in his pants pocket.
He has been charged with burglary, child cruelty without great harm, and possession of a controlled substance.
