Medical Monday: Local hospital receives "A" grade for patient safety
Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center made the grade in patient safety.
The hospital received an "A" grade from Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. The rating system looks at criteria related to patient safety and infection rates to assign the grades.
Thousands of hospitals across the nation were graded, and only 32-percent received the top grade.
"Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center takes this very seriously. It indicates that we are serious about preventing infections. We are serious about preventing mistakes," said Angie Schreiber, Director of Quality Management.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is updated every fall and spring. You can view the detailed assessment for hospitals across the country by clicking on the link attached to this article.
