Meet Lynn Haven's new Chief of Police
The city of Lynn Haven has a new Chief of Police.
The department officially celebrated Police Chief Ricky Ramie's new position with a pinning ceremony at Sharon Sheffield Park Friday morning.
The area native says this was always a career goal of his. In his career, he was hired by the Bay County Sheriff's Office in 1991 and worked his way through the ranks over 25 years.
But he says his goal as police chief is to continue to reduce the crime rate in Lynn Haven.
"As I said in my speech, a 55 percent reduction in crime is astronomical but we can do better. And the drug arrest went up 112 percent in this community, we can do better. You eliminate the drugs in the community and your crime goes down," said Ramie.
Ramie said finding the manpower may be a challenge in that process which is why he hopes to join with federal and state officers to accomplish this goal.
