Military Makeover transforms local woman's home

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A local woman has faced two major tragedies in less than 10 years, but a Lifetime TV show that transforms the homes of military families stepped in to help her out.

The community came together to welcome Cody Patron and her daughter back to their home. (WJHG/WECP)

Cody Patron's husband was killed in the line of duty back in 2011, and this past October, her home was destroyed by Hurricane Michael.

Military Makeover transformed Patron's Panama City Beach house for her and her daughter.

Saturday was the big reveal for Patron's house, after a week of the show working on it.

Montel Williams, the host of Military Makeover, said, "I've been able to talk about my service, but now I'm able to do something a little bit more with my service. And that's, actually hosting the show, we're not giving hands-out, but we're giving hands-up, to deserving veteran families who own their own home, they apply, and we pick one, and this was particular case here in Florida, we have a family of a gold-star widow, which is really an unbelievable opportunity to give something back."

The show also featured special guest WWE star and veteran Lacey Evans.
