Good Monday morning everyone!
Meteorologist Ryan Michaels showing Satellite and Radar where storms are developing today along a surface trough.
It's an active start on radar this morning with scattered storms, especially along the coast. Some showers or storms this morning could be heavy at times, so take it easy on the morning commute! We'll see more of these developing throughout the morning along the coast, however, inland areas will have a better chance for rain in the afternoon.
Otherwise, it's a warm morning with most starting out in the mid 70s. Due to the clouds and storms around today, highs will only top out in the upper 80s approaching 90 degrees.
We're starting this week off unsettled as the stalled out front that entered the Southeast at the end of the week last week has developed into a low pressure trough at the surface and aloft. There's plenty of lift and moisture present in our atmosphere which will create these scattered storms today and likely tomorrow before the trough weakens through the midweek. Rain chances will be more likely on the coast in the mornings, and then inland in the afternoons.
Once this trough breaks down by midweek, we'll be back to a more familiar pattern for August. Temperatures will warm back up to the low 90s by mid to late week. Rain chances return to a more hit or miss shot at an afternoon sea breeze storm, most found north of the bays and away from the beaches.
For today, mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers or thunderstorms, on and off, likely throughout the day. Highs today top out in the upper 80s. Your 7 Day Forecast keeps us unsettled through tomorrow, with rain chances backing off to a more typical hit or miss chance by the end of the week.
