LYNN HAVEN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Many in our area are struggling trying to find ways to recover from Hurricane Michael and it's taking a toll on some. Several people are starting to lose hope.
Some locals say it's tough trying to piece their lives back together after Hurricane Michael.
"Bouncing around from location to location, trying to find a place to stay, with a roof over our head with power, with water," said Lynn Haven resident Jason Tunnell.
Tunnell's home and business were severely damaged by Hurricane Michael and he says it's starting to take its toll on him and his family.
"The children have been significantly affected and we thought this would be a great opportunity for our kids to come out and gain some hope," said Tunnell.
Tunnell and his family came to hear Motivational Speaker Scott Burrows share his story at Mosley High School with the hope of leaving some inspiration.
Years ago, Burrows played college football and practiced martial arts but all that changed after he was paralyzed in 1983 in a car accident. He's now a quadriplegic.
"My goal is to try to come together collectively. Looking at adversity as an opportunity for growth even if it's gonna take time," said Burrows.
Burrows believes if he shares his story about how he keeps pushing to never give up, his message could inspire storm victims to hang on a little longer.
"You can do it, regardless of the adversity, you can do it. Regardless of the adversity you're facing right now in this beautiful community and it will be beautiful again," said Burrows.
