Movers for Mutts helps collect shelter supplies

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Humane Society of Bay County cares for countless animals every year, and one business is stepping in to help.

"Movers for Mutts" is a program put on by the local Two Men and a Truck location, dedicated to making sure stray animals in our community have what they need.

"Every year we partner up with other businesses around town and place boxes for donations, so it's like a donation drive," said Two Men and a Truck's Panama City Marketing Coordinator, Evgeniya Stetsenko.

With more than 70 animals at any given time at the Humane Society of Bay County, keeping stocked up on supplies can sometimes be a challenge.

"So, it really helps because the community is a big part of why we are still operating and these babies still have the stuff they need like blankets, food, dishes, even toys. It doesn't seem like a necessity but it is," said Humane Society Staff and Office Manager, Lauryn Gill.

By helping to provide supplies like food and bedding, you're helping make sure their visitors have a comfortable place to stay until they find their forever home.

"We're trying to bring all the community together so that we can help somebody who needs help, help people understand that we can be grateful for what we have but we can also help our neighbor," said Stetsenko.

So why Two Men and a Truck?

"We will basically go from location to location, load everything up into the truck, and deliver it to the Humane Society," Stetsenko explained.

"They can be more mobile for us. They can go out there and reach more of the community," Gill added.

"We're the company that moves people forward, but we also move things forward that way people can move forward," said Stetsenko.

Beside collecting donations at various locations around town, Two Men and a Truck is hosting an event this Saturday to encourage the community to check out the facility and have a fun day.

The event will take place at the Humane Society of Bay County from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you'd like to donate, you can drop off items at any of these locations until November 8th:

-Earthwise pet store on 23rd Street
-Both Pet Supermarkets locations
-Forest Park Animal Clinic
